Our third blind pick for the Tidal Bay challenge was from the Sainte Famille Winery. This bottle was fitting in so many way, which I realized while writing this post, because the label is in French and my first language is French. Secondly I was in my hometown of Clare where I grew up, while trying this wine with my family.
Clare is a small Acadian seaside village. You can see the ocean from pretty much wherever you are. The beaches are really nice, we have one of the biggest wooden churches in North America, and we have many talented musicians and artists such as Denise Comeau and her niece Julienne Leblanc who have such a great style.
You can also always find some fresh delicious seafood. A big part of the economy here is the fishing and lobster industry. You may have heard of Comeau Seafoods as it is a very large seafood distributor and sends their product all around the world. If you ever have a chance to visit, it’s a charming little village. I would highly recommend La Cuisine Robichaud as a restaurant to visit and Sip Cafe if you are in the area and in the mood for coffee. They are both on social: La Cuisine Robichaud and Sip Cafe.
The Sainte Famille Tidal Bay is a blend of Lacadie, Siegfried, Seyval and Riesling. On the sweetness index the wine is a 1/5, 0 being dry and 5 being sweet. It pairs well with Nova Scotias finest seafood. The winery is located in Falmouth and overlooks the Avon River Valley. I had never heard of this winery but reading the description of the location on the bottle, this winery sounds picturesque. While visiting their website I noticed that you can buy their wine online.
The star ingredient to pair with the Sainte Famille Tidal Bay this week was a lobster.
I decided to make a popular dish that I grew up eating called hot lobster. It’s lobster sautéed and then simmered in a cream sauce served on toasted bread. A great side dish with hot lobster is mashed potatoes and veggies, fries or a simple green salad. I decided to go with the green salad as the side for my hot lobster.
The hot lobster and salad paired nicely with the Sainte Famille Tidal Bay, so if you are like me and have never tried Sainte Famille, give it a try. It was delicious.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
