My water intake goal per day is 7 cups and I usually achieve it. Some days it feels harder to make sure I drink my water. I notice when I don’t drink enough water.
Drinking water can help with food cravings. Sometimes we think we are hungry but in fact we just need a big glass of water. Hydrating your body with H2O is also great for your skin, helps you during your exercise, helps improve your mood, can help relieve headaches, eliminates toxins and not to mention good for those who have trouble with their bathroom duties.
When I wake up every morning, I start off with a glass of water to get things going. Here is what helps me get my daily water intake!
1. Designate a water cup for the day!
I find if you have a nice water bottle or glass, this helps a lot. Every day, I place a cup on my kitchen island and I drink from it. When it’s empty, I fill it again! My favorite cup these days is my Yeti mug!
2. Add flavouring to your water!
Adding cucumber, lemon, lime or fruit to it can help add some taste to your water. My favorite would be cucumber or citrus. My kids enjoy the water drops from SweetLeaf! There’s no artificial sugars. You can purchase it at most health stores. We bought ours at Sante Centre
3. Drink some sparkling water.
I find in summer, sometimes I want something different, so I buy cans of sparkling water and enjoy it on the go while we drive, go to the beach or go to the lake.
4. Document your water intake
You’ve heard me mention that I have a membership at The Barre Pilates Halifax. The owner, Erika, will do self love or self care challenges and one of them is to drink your water. To encourage people to drink their water, there’s pictures of 7 glasses. As you drink your water, you colour the glass. You could easily have a piece of paper and do a check or number each time you finish a cup.
5. Arbonne Fizzy sticks
If you are like me, at around 3pm sometimes I feel like a need a boost but a coffee isn’t what I would like to drink. I try to limit my coffee to 1 cup a day. I discovered Arbonne Fizzy sticks that come is different flavours. I love the citrus flavour. Fizz sticks contain botanical green tea, guarana, ginseng, and vitamin B. I love how they provide a natural and healthy energy boost and hydration. They are also vegan friendly. If you are looking at purchasing some, you can find Jane here. She’s a very knowledgeable Arbonne lover and has been an advocate for many many years.
I hope this post will help you drink more water! Keep on hydrating and enjoy the last bit of summer.
Love Backend kitchen xx
